Since 1968, The Oratorio Society has been dedicated to performing professional-level choral concerts that provide opportunities for people from all walks of life to connect over a love of music. Singer workshops, community partnerships, and a dedication to excellence contribute to a history that has enriched lives and inspired a love of music across generations.
Our History
As one of the first cultural activities in our region, The Oratorio Society helped ignite a love of the arts in central Virginia. What began out of a shared passion for great choral music and a desire to perform works that transcend time and space has grown into a beautiful collection of moments, both big and small.
The resulting story is one of community, found on and offstage. As our tight-knit community has grown in size, so too has our impact. Through community partnerships, art collaborations, and music education, we have helped inspire a larger appreciation of music in our area, while uniting us around a shared understanding of the human spirit—because our work has always been about bringing people together and enriching lives through the power of music.
